Boulder Rock Climbing Event Raises Funds, Awareness for Ovarian Cancer

DENVERMarch 21, 2012 – Registration is now open online for the HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation’s Sixth Annual Climb4Life Colorado June 22-23 in Boulder, Colo. Climb4Life features rock climbing, hiking, yoga, skills clinics and other activities for empowering women and raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. HERA invites women, men, children and families of all ages, abilities and skill levels to register online at:  www.herafoundation.org/c4l-colorado-2012.

The Climb4Life series was conceived in 2001 while HERA Founder, Sean Patrick, was recovering from her seventh ovarian cancer surgery. What started as a single event in Salt Lake City has grown into a multi-city program attracting hundreds of participants and numerous partners. As its primary fundraising event, the Climb4Life series is fundamental to helping HERA accomplish its mission to stop the loss of women from ovarian cancer by promoting Health, Empowerment, Research, and Awareness.

“Sean believed that the skills women learn in climbing – problem solving, risk taking and self-confidence – enable them to climb all the mountains in their lives, including those related to health issues,” said Meg Steitz, Executive Director for the HERA Foundation. “HERA proudly celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2012, and we are carrying on Sean’s legacy by hosting our sixth annual Climb4Life event in the beautiful setting of Boulder, CO.”

In addition to Boulder’s event, the 2012 HERA Climb4LifeSM series includes:

April 28-29 – NEW! Climb4Life Boston – Boston, MA

July 14-15 – 7th Annual Climb4Life DC – Washington, DC

September 14-16 – 11th Annual Climb4Life Utah – Salt Lake City, UT

Through its signature Climb4Life and auxiliary fundraising events, coupled with funding from multiple other sources, HERA remains committed to investing 88% of the funds raised each year in programs that continue to provide research, awareness, education and community support.

Early-bird registration for Climb4Life Colorado is now open for $65 per person; the registration fee increases to $75 starting May 12 through June 22. All registrations include an event t-shirt, a goodie bag from event sponsors, entrance to the Hang Time Happy Hour on Friday night, as well as the Summit Party on Saturday night.
