DENVERMarch 7, 2012 – Registration is now open for the HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation’s Climb4LifeSM  Boston, April 28-29, 2012, at MetroRock in Everett, MA. The Climb4Life weekends feature rock climbing, yoga, skills clinics and other activities that empower women and raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. HERA invites women, men, children and families of all ages, abilities and skill levels to register online at:

The Boston registration fee of $35 per person includes admission to the MetroRock gym and access to the ropes course; the deadline to register is April 26.  Participants are encouraged to use this opportunity to raise funds for HERA.

The Climb4Life series was conceived while HERA Founder Sean Patrick was recovering from her seventh ovarian cancer surgery. What started as a single event in Salt Lake City has grown into a multi-city program attracting hundreds of participants and numerous partners. As its primary fundraising event, the Climb4Life series is fundamental to helping HERA accomplish its mission to stop the loss of women from ovarian cancer by promoting Health, Empowerment, Research, and Awareness.

“Sean believed that the skills women learn in climbing – problem solving, risk taking and self-confidence – enable them to climb all the mountains in their lives, including those related to health issues” said Meg Steitz, Executive Director for the HERA Foundation. “HERA proudly celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2012, and we are carrying on Sean’s legacy by hosting our first Climb4Life event in the Boston area.”

Dates for the 2012 HERA Climb4Life series include:

April 28-29 – Climb4Life Boston – MetroRock, 69 Norman St., Everett, MA

June 22-23 – 6th Annual Climb4Life Colorado – Boulder, CO

July 14-15 – 7th Annual Climb4Life DC – Washington, DC

September 14-16 – 11th Annual Climb4Life Utah – Salt Lake City, UT

Through its signature Climb4Life series and other fundraising events, HERA commits more than 85 percent of the funds raised for scientific research and community grants, as well as education and awareness initiatives for ovarian cancer.
