DENVERApril 10, 2012 – The HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation, a nationally recognized ovarian cancer nonprofit, is now accepting applications for its Community Grants Program. Each year, HERA awards five $1,000 grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations around the country for programs that improve the quality of life for women with ovarian cancer or raise awareness about the disease in novel and unusual ways. Applications are due June 1, 2012, and organizations can receive support for up to three consecutive years.

Since 2002, HERA has awarded 28 community grants, totaling $38,100.  The projects funded have included development of advertising campaigns, promotional materials, support groups, educational conferences and events, and outreach services for women with ovarian cancer, among others.
